bad smoke smell in kitchen wont go?

we left some food in the oven for like hours and when we realized the whole kitchen was full of smoke. black, massive smoke. not just a little, so much that I was surprised the firefighters were not alerted by the neighbours.
well anyway we had all the windows open for a week now. but this smell wont go. we washed the curtain, bought a lot of air fresheners and odor killers but no use. we will try to rent a carpet cleaner, and also we will wash the whole kithchen unit in and out, but im afraid that wont help eighter…
any other ideas apart from repainting the walls? i thought about that as well, but really dont want to do it if theres any other way.
so if u got any ideas, tricks, or a magical wand, please let me know

I had a house fire in just one room but the whole house was affected. All rooms apart from 2 which were thankfully closed at the time were not so bad. I’m afraid all other rooms had to be repainted after being thoroughly washed.

It was not until the carpets, and soft furnishings were replaced and the walls repainted that the smell finally disappeared. (about 6 months in total).

There is no magic wand unless a disaster management company – like Belfor (the one I had) contacts you with a solution. There may be something on the market but I’m afraid I don’t know what it is.

So sorry to disappoint you but I have a horrible feeling you are going to have to repaint. Your questions really does bring back bad memories.
